Trailrunning at Kilimanjaro
We have worked with our partner in Tanzania and the Kilimanjaro National Park Authority on this project for a long time. We connected two routes with each other which is not actually permitted. But the effort was worth it. The tour includes everything you could dream of. Untouched nature, sensational views and a real challenge at 5895 HM.
Or as our “test customer” summed it: The expectations were far exceeded!
The first days
We use the shortest and steepest route to the summit. The very quiet Umbwe Route with some beautiful scenic views especially Here you will discover the real Kilimanjaro!
On day 3 at Baranco Camp we do some nice acclimatization trails to Lava Tower and Arrow Glacier as high as 4900 HM to test the fitness at high altitude.
The summit at 5895 HM is a very big challenge.
The summit trail to 5895 HM
We move over Baranco Wall to Karanga Camp. Next morning we start with the summit trail at 3900 meters above sea level and run via Barafu Camp to Stella Point on the summit of kilimanjaro. After a short rest to make photos we start the way back to Gillman´s Point. This route hash beautiful views to the neighbour Mawenzi mountain and Kenia. We arrive at Kibo Hut over the famous “sand dunes” for running and surfing. After a rest to change the cloths there are another 17 km to horombo hut.
The way back to the gate.
The next day you have to master another easy 19 km through moorland and jungle before you can enjoy your well-deserved kilimanjaro beer. Now the holiday can begin.
Many customers use their stay in Tanzania for a safari in the parks near Arusha or a few days on Zanzibar.
