The trek to K2 Basecamp with crossing of Gondogoro La Pass (5680 m.a.s.l. !) offers a great view of four 8000 m high peaks and is considered by many as one of the best high mountain tours in the world.
With reception in the banquet hall of the Karakorum – of the fourteen eight-thousanders of the world, five of these giants are located on this trekking route: Gasherbrum I (Hidden Peak), Gasherbrum II, K2, Broad Peak and the Nanga Parbat.

This is the first part of our trip. We start in Skardu and drive by jeep to tattu. Here starts our trekking tour.

This solo effort without oxygen certainly inspired Reinhold Messner to his later adventures. Trekking to Concordia and K 2 Basecamp
The trek to K2 Basecamp via Gondogoro La Pass (5680 m.a.s.l. !) offers great views of four 8000 m peaks and is considered by many to be one of the best high mountain treks in the world. Some of the wildest and most dramatic scenery on earth is found in the vast, rugged Karakoram Range in northern Pakistan. Remote and spectacular, the icy peaks and huge glaciers of the Karakoram offer unparalleled opportunities for adventurous trekking.

From the top of the Gondogoro La (5,680 m) there is a breathtaking view of the striking mountains of the Shigar Valley and Hushey Valley.
The glaciated 5614 m high pass leads from the northeast situated Vigne Glacier to the southwest situated Gondogoro Glacier. Thus it forms an important exit from the Baltoro region and the Concordia plateau with the surrounding seven- and eight-thousand-meter peaks to the Hushe valley to the south.
